founding story
How Princess Promise got started.
When Mike DiLeo traveled to Sierra Leone in May 2012 with his church, he knew there was something special about Sierra Leone. A year later, in May 2013, he made his way back to Sierra Leone and met a young girl named Princess, who at the time was 7 years old. Mike fell in love with Princess and her sweet spirit. At first, he thought his family was called to adopt Princess. But, The Lord quickly showed him that wasn’t His plan. God was telling Mike that he had something greater in store. Mike wasn’t going to take Princess out of Africa but this tugging on his heart was The Lord telling him to become an advocate for vulnerable girls like Princess.
Since 2014, Princess Promise has provided tools and support for vulnerable girls in Sierra Leone, Africa. In 2015, Princess Promise officially became a non-profit based in McKinney, Texas. The name Princess Promise is inspired by Princess herself.
